HMS Abercrombie served in Mediterranean operations during World War II and was recognised for actions at Sicily and Salerno in 1943. The ship used a turret removed from HMS Furious and carried two 15-inch guns, before later being repurposed as an accommodation ship and taken out of service in 1954.
