Introducing the Heinkel He162 A-2 "Salamander" Plastic Model Kit in 1:48 scale from Tamiya. As desperation grew for the German forces near the end of WWII, a need arose for a new, inexpensive jet fighter that could be quickly produced and easily flown. In just 3 months, Heinkel developed the He162, a small, sporty-looking jet fighter with mainly wooden construction and powered by a BMW003 turbojet, making it the fastest jet fighter of WWII with a top speed of 838km/h.
Despite its acute fuel and parts shortages, the He162 managed to reach combat units in late March 1945, recording some successes. Now, this historic aircraft is recreated in a high-quality assembly kit display model, featuring:
- Length: 205mm, Width: 149mm
- Top-mounted BMW003 turbojet engine with parts for opened and closed engine bay covers to allow full display of internal details.
- Special dolly included to display the engine separately from the aircraft.
- Posable canopy for open or closed positions, with a removable ejector seat.
