The Bismarck was the largest and most modern warship of its time. The Bismarck was commissioned on the 24th August 1940 and departed on its maiden voyage from Hamburg. Their most dramatic battle was the pursuit and sinking by the Royal Navy in May 1941, a pivotal moment in World War II.
