The Bell UH-1 Iroquois (commonly known as the Huey) is a multi-role helicopter manufactured in the United States during the Cold War and the modern era. The prototype first flew in 1956, and the aircraft entered service in 1959. The helicopter—in its UH-1D version—has an overall length of 17.4 meters, and its main rotor diameter is 14.6 meters. It is powered by a single 1,100 hp Lycoming T-53-L-11 engine. Its maximum speed in level flight is 220 km/h. The helicopter has a conventional layout with a single main rotor and a tail rotor.
