The U.S. Navy battleship Missouri (BB-63) is the third of the Iowa-class battleships. She was launched in 1944 and participated in the Battle of Okinawa, and on Sept. 2, 1945, the Japanese Instrument of Surrender was signed on her deck. After the war, she took part in the Korean War, and was retired in 1955; commissioned again in 1986, she participated in the 1991 Gulf War and was retired again after that. She is now preserved as a memorial ship in Hawaii.
