This locomotive holds a significant place in railway history as part of the British Ffestiniog Railway Company, the oldest surviving railway in the world, established in 1832. The "Princess" Small England engine itself was built in 1863 and, along with the "Prince," is one of the three oldest narrow gauge engines still in operation on their original railway.
