Special Hobby 1:72 Short Sunderland Mk.I/II 'The Flying Porcupine' Plastic Model Kit

This Sutherland kit depicts one of the arguably most famous flying boats in aviation history. The initial version, the Mk.I, was introduced shortly before the outbreak of war, while the Mk.II was the first Sutherland variant to enter British military service during the war years. Both versions differed from their later successors by featuring a sharply profiled hull step and twin dorsal fuselage gunner positions. Only the final production batches of the Mk.II incorporated the single dorsal gun turret, a feature that would become characteristic of the Mk.III and subsequent variants. The aircraft's exceptional range and comprehensive defensive armament made it a formidable anti-submarine platform and capable adversary against Luftwaffe long-range fighters.
