Italeri 1:72 HH-53C "Jolly Green Giant'' Helicopter Plastic Model Kit

The Sikorsky HH-53C Jolly Green Giant was developed as a combat search and rescue (CSAR) variant of the CH-53 Sea Stallion heavy-lift helicopter and entered service with the U.S. Air Force in the late 1960s. Designed specifically for recovering downed aircrew from hostile territory, it offered significantly enhanced capabilities over earlier rescue helicopters. Improvements included an in-flight refueling probe, enlarged external fuel tanks, additional armour protection, and provisions for heavier defensive armament. Particular emphasis was placed on upgrading its communications and navigation systems, enabling effective coordination with supporting aircraft such as aerial refueling tankers, attack helicopters, and escort aircraft during complex rescue operations. Rugged, dependable, and capable of extended-range missions, the HH-53C proved highly effective and saw extensive service throughout the Vietnam War.
