During the 2005 Edwards AFB Airshow, #782 made a farewell flyby wearing a striking Stars-and-Stripes paint scheme. The aircraft had, in fact, worn this same patriotic livery in 1983, but since the Nighthawk was still a top secret project at that time, very few people ever saw it. Since #782 was scheduled for retirement immediately after the show, it was repainted and publicly displayed in its U.S. flag scheme for the first time.
