From inception, the Mig-29A had limited fuel capacity as its the biggest problem.To meet the specified range requirements, the designers of Mikoyan developed a project to enlarge the fuselage tank. Its capacity was increased by 240 litres.The enlarged fuselage tank made the upper fuselage contour become convex instead of concave. Additionally, he application of new pylons allowed another two drop tanks to be fitted under the wings. These changes gave the fighter a range of 3,000km.
