The M109 self-propelled howitzer is the second generation of postwar self-propelled artillery developed in the United States.The M109 was produced from 1962 as the successor to the M44 155mm self-propelled howitzer, and a total of approximately 2,000 were produced for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps.
