The Hiryū is a mythical creature with dragon legs and a snake's tail, endowed with divine power. The Hiryū attack aircraft was the last fixed-wing aircraft designed by Westland and the last of its propeller-driven fighters. It weighed about the same as, or even more than, a DC-3, yet its engine was twice as powerful as the P-47 Thunderbolt.
