At the beginning of 1941, the first Ju 88D-1 aircraft were built, based on the Ju 88A-4 bomber. Three cameras were installed on the aircraft, but in practice only two were used, located on the left side of the bomb bay. The Ju 88D-1s could carry bombs like regular Ju 88A-4s.
