In August of 1942, production of the first Tiger began, and by 1944 over 1300 tanks were manufactured. At the time, the Tiger’s 88 mm gun was arguably the strongest and most effective anti-tank gun in use. “Tigerphobia” was very real, given the strength and formidability of these impressive tanks, and it is said that Russians would flee when they caught sight of a Tiger approaching. This kit of Border's Tiger I Ausf. E represents one of the early production vehicles used by the Das Reich Division in the Battle of Kursk.
