The Douglas DC-6 was introduced in 1946 as a military transport and commercial airliner. The DC-6 was developed based on the US Army's request for a longer version of the Douglas DC-4 with a pressurized cabin. The Liftmaster was adopted by the US Air Force and Navy. Many still fly today in cargo and wildfire control roles.
