The Leopard 2 is a Main Battle Tank of the German Army that was adopted in 1977 as a successor to the Leopard 1. The Leopard 2 A7V is the newest model in the Leopard 2 series. By comparison to the previous model, the amount of armour on the front hull provides a better defense, the gearbox and side transmission have been changed for improved mobility, and the 3rd-generaton thermal imager for the gunner has been improved significantly. Additioanlly, it is equipped with an auxilliary power supply, a new Nuclear, Biological, Chemical (NBC) protection system, and the most up-to-date network communication system. By adopting a new power pack, its mobility has improved despite its equipment weight having increased. The Leopard 2 A7V was handed over to the German Federal Army in 2019 and deployed in 2021; the German Federal Army plans to introduce 104 vehicles by 2023, and Denmark plans to purchase 44 units of this vehicle by the ed of 2022.
